Its stem is woody at the base, from which grow a number of straight branches. Its leaves are lance shaped and dark green in colour.The plant produces bunches of pink, blue, or, more rarely white fragrant flowers. USES Fresh hyssop leaves and shoots are used as an aromatic condiment while the air-dried flowers are used to make herbal teas. CAUTION Use in moderation. Should not be taken by those of a nervous disposition. PROPERTIES As a medicinal herb, hyssop has digestive, soothing, expectorant, and cough suppressant properties.
