Spigariello, my new favourite greens!
This broccoli is absolutely fantastic! I grew some last summer and have had some over wintering in my polytunnel. The greens are really tender and tasty the wavy ringlets the plant produces look beautiful in lots of dishes. Its also a plant that keeps on giving, with months and months of cropping as they keep producing new leaves. I have used the greens in pasta and on top of home made pizza, but they are also gorgeous tossed in toasted sesame oil and sea salt then crisped off in the oven for 10 mins. They come out like the best crispy seaweed you have ever tasted! Totally recommend that you grow some. Mandy
Mandy is so right! about the eating quality of this plant but also 'Spigariello' is lovely to look at in any part of your garden as the leaves are a soft greeny grey in colour - with attractive wavy edges. Shoots grow on shoots! I am looking forward to the possibility miy plants will go on cropping in the polytunnel. Thanks Paolo and team at SoI! Best regards maggie
